HELLO!

My name is Evyn Venkateswaran and the correct way to pronounce my name is:

"Ev - in VEN - kuh - tes - wah - RUN"

I am a first-generation Telugu-Mother Tongue (beginner-proficiency) Tamil-ethnicity 'Desi'/Dravidian (also can be described as South Indian but I do not identify as 'Indian' due to political reasons).

I was born and raised in Bay Area (Concord), California, currently residing in Cleveland, OH. The Current Dream is to live in either Toronto, Canada or back in Concord, California but I still have a long ways to go until I can.

I like to refer to myself as a "Jack of All Trades - Master of None" when it comes to my work, in the idea I love to work in various approaches, mediums, and rendering techniques that I like to switch out depending on the project at hand, however I'm super indecisive over claiming one specific style as my own.

It's like choosing between from Pizza and Cake, both are very good and delicous when you have a craving, but eating nothing but Pizza or nothing but Cake can get quite boring!

That being said, I have a couple distinct go-to "styles" that I like to use, one of which is a textured painterly style, found in most of my Digital Paint and Traditional works. I like to render realistically when it comes to portraiture or capturing a likeness but in my illustrations I stylize my characters in a way that's flexible in the way I render them. I dabble here and there in line-art and soft-shading but I mainly like to render a piece, like a painting. Lastly, I have an even more simplified style, that I use mainly for my vector illustrations. I like focusing on simple shapes without a bunch of line-art however I also love the challenge of a more complex piece now and then.

When it comes to subject matter, I'm interested in creating illustrations that include a variety of representation, examples being characters within the LGBTQIAP+ spectrum and/or PoC multi-ethnic backgrounds. Essentially, I like craating the representation that I desperately needed growing up as a brown queer kid.

I have a thing for portraitures. citrus still-lifes, using orange or teal in my artworks, and drawing queer fanart.

With my newly abundant free-time, I hope to keep on making art on the things I and others will love.
